when you hear or read the word “trauma”, take a moment to close your eyes and see how it feels in your body. it’s a word that can instantly create a sense of unease and most of us don’t quite realise that it doesn’t have to relate to a certain incident.
our bodies therefore can be traumatised due to ongoing or chronic stress in our lives. Being unique and individual beings, trauma affects us in different ways, and the results can be so debilitating that you can feel like you don’t know who you are anymore. Be it through accident or illness, bereavement, divorce, a difficult relationship or work related stress, our bodies and minds undergo massive shifts, twists and turns on every level creating a number of different sensations, experiences and reactions which we feel emotionally, physically, psychologically and mentally as anxiety, depression, insomnia or muscle aches to name just a few examples. These can have a huge impact on our daily lives and our ability to function as we normally would.
Western medicine can quite often view these sensations as symptoms of ill health and will work to treat them as quickly as possible, it doesn’t normally link them to your lifestyle or a particular event because it may have happened years before but the body has a memory and can store so much that we often are unaware of or don’t allow ourselves to see. Talking about your experience can help, but by incorporating trauma based yoga therapy and somatic experiencing to your healing where we delve deep into the body and the brain, we can start to develop a much deeper understanding as opposed to a fear of the reactions and symptoms we experience- they are messages being communicated to us by our bodies telling us there’s something we’re ignoring. once we become aware of this, the sense of fear diminishes and our minds open up to the internal intelligence that will tell us what we need to do to feel better, more at peace, happier and content with our lives and where we are in our bodies

These life altering sessions will open you up to your own innate power and ability to influence your own health. the word Somatic stems from the Greek word “Soma” meaning “living body”. These sessions are about truly connecting with yourself, your emotions, your sensations and your feelings on every level. Understanding what your body is undergoing through opening yourself up, befriending and FEELING so that you form the deepest relationship and understanding with yourself for a change, instead of always striving to understand everything and everyone around and outside of you. turn the attention inwards and your life and health will start to change.
through self exploration and intuition you will learn how to recognise, understand and thereby manage your experiences, resulting in a feeling of immense empowerment at being able to self treat and ultimately self heal in your day to day life. All this will allow you to move forward with your life.
Sessions are intricately linked with transformational breath therapy, chakra based emotional therapy, guided meditations, African Rhythm Healing through Sound and Body Drumming, yoga nidra, reiki energy therapy, acupressure, and vibrational sound therapy through gong baths. We'll also delve deep into vocal expression freedom therapy and EFT ( Emotional Freedom Technique), writing meditations and journalling, cranial, body, foot and facial massage technique, as well as trigger point therapy which I will teach you to self-administer.

These treatments intuitively incorporate functional, structural & energetic or vibrational forms of therapy to help the body heal. All of our body systems are interconnected: our tissues, muscles, joints, organs and endocrine and emotional systems work together to establish and maintain a rhythmic harmony within the body. The treatment involves elements of ancient Japanese reiki therapy, foot massage and acupressure to stimulate tension and toxicity release, cranial massage and trigger point stimulation to help rebalance the electromagnetic brain and heart waves and all the vibrational systems of the body. Sound therapy, breath therapy and a gentle yet therapeutic manoeuvring, stroking, manipulating & stretching of the bodily fascia, ligament and muscle groups gently create relaxation and space in order to free up and dissolve pent up emotional, physical and psychological "debris" that trauma or chronic stress can leave behind. Sweeping strokes along the full body using combination aromatic oils can also work to encourage a lymphatic drainage and aid elimination.

Life can seem like a never ending roller coaster, with no respite from the constant difficulties, challenges and responsibilities we can be faced with. a more passive approach, the 4 R’s is an invitation to step off that roller coaster...to surrender to relaxation through complete stillness, to quiet the body & mind, and access your body’s natural ability to heal. This workshop is particularly beneficial for those of you feeling fatigued, weak or stressed from your daily demands and offers an outlet for your body to truly surrender and let go……once you try it, you’ll realise it’s something we all need at least once a week if not daily!

We live in a society where external toxins constantly infiltrate the body. By toxins we’re talking about dietary, lifestyle, environmental, emotional or psychological elements that we’re exposed to on a daily basis. When this infiltration is repetitive, congestion and inflammation sets in. The result of this is that the body loses the ability to continuously have to flush out and eliminate these toxins and our bodies get tired! A malfunctioning of particular parts or systems within our bodies occurs- we become tight perhaps, we can experience pain, bloating, glandular/emotional imbalance, fatigue, insomnia, stress, anxiety and so forth in the body’s attempt to get you to WAKE UP and stop doing what you’re doing. The ceremony begins with movement therapy to loosen up any rigidity physically or in your mind and then proceeds to a passive practice whereby you'll be invited to lie down amidst fluffy blankets and pillows and bathe in the healing vibrations of the gong. The session also incorporates vocal expression therapy to further facilitate awakening, moving and releasing or purging pent up accumulated physical, mental, psychological or emotional "debris" from the system.
